BIG NEWS! My newest book is now available for pre-order!!!
Soulless Mates is a collection of six intertwined cozy fantasy short stories that take place in the Lovegood Café. It’s available in e-book and Kindle Unlimited only (though if it proves popular, I’ll consider creating a paperback version) and has a release date of October 20, 2023. You read that correctly…it comes out in 11 days!
It’s all about the risotto at the Lovegood Café. Not just any risotto, though. Magic risotto. Romance risotto.
And everyone wants a taste.
Everyone except one salty server whose only mission is to survive the love-hungry throngs of supernatural customers until her final shift. And Liv is ready for this soul-sucking job to end—like, now—but she can’t rage quit until she completes her secret mission.
With the popularity of the café heating up—and her coven boiling over with impatience—Liv has only five hours to sniff out the secret ingredient or she’ll find herself in even hotter water than the damn romance risotto.
What I’m reading
I’m currently in the middle of two books, and probably will be for a while because I don’t have much time for reading these days. The first one is a fantasy novel with the Chosen One trope…but the Chosen One is 83! The Remarkable Retirement of Edna Fischer, by E.M. Anderson, is hilarious so far and I highly recommend it.
I’m also lucky enough to read the newest by my long-time friend and critique partner, Ron Walters. Lucky because it’s soooo good so far…and because it’s not available to anyone yet. If you like gaming and sci-fi, you should check out his debut adult novel Deep Dive. If you prefer middle grade fantasy, then Calix and Fire Demon is perfect for you.
Other news
The cover for Bad Company: Almost Like Magic, book 1 was selected for the All Author October cover contest! I made it through the first round (top 100) and need to get into the top 50 to reach round 3. Click here if you’d like to give it a vote. You need to have or create an All Author account, or you can sign in using Facebook.
I’m trying to decide if I should participate in NaNoWriMo this year. For once, I don’t have a story idea pulling at me, so it may be a last-minute decision. I generally enjoy the challenge of writing 50,000 words in 30 days and have written some really great first drafts because of the pressure to “win.”
I have plans for two novels to come out in 2024 (fingers crossed): Almost Like Magic 3 and a non-related, stand-alone book that I just commissioned a cover artist for. And hey, maybe another short story collection. I have 10 years’ worth to chose from.
AND HALLOWEEN is almost here!! I can’t wait to get the house decorated (though my writing space is pretty much always Halloween) and prepped for trick or treaters. I dress up like a witch and sit outside with my fire pit, handing out candy, and cackling about the deliciousness of toasted children…
That’s a lot of news for one post! I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the start of Fall (if you’re in the northern hemisphere) or spring (for those of you in the southern hemisphere).
As always, thanks for your support. Happy reading.
