How is it summer already!? ☀️
Hello friends!
Whew! Now that was an endless "June-uary!" After a dismal, soggy "spring" in the Pacific Northwest—at least to this sunshine-loving author—we finally got a few warm days. And then the sun retreated behind the clouds again. It's okay. Summer doesn't really start around here until July 5th anyway, and that's not too far off.
It's been a little while since I sent out a newsletter, and that's mostly because not much has been going on with my writing. My brain needed a break due to other life stuff (nothing serious, just time consuming). But now that life has mostly settled again, I made the last-minute decision to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo, an offshoot of National Novel Writing Month. The biggest difference between Camp NaNo and NaNoWriMo is that during the camps in April and July, you set your own goals; November's NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. My goal for July is to finish the first draft of ALM 2 so I can get it to my editor and have it available to all of you before the end of the year.
So far I have approximately 65,000 words, and would like the first draft to come in around 100,000 (this gives me space for editing and trimming back on the scenes that are repetitive). This means I need to write around 35,000 words for July.
To help my motivation for the next month, I decided to put the ebook of Bad Company on sale for 99¢ for the entire month of July! For anyone who hasn't checked it out yet, now's a great time! Tell your friends!! Tell your family!! Share it around! And for those of you who've already purchased the book in any of its forms, thank you so much!!! (and I'd be truly appreciative if you'd hop over to the link and leave an honest review if you haven't already.)
I'll send another quick note at the end of July with an update on my Camp NaNo progress. Send all the creative energy and muses my way. And hopefully I'll have a little more to say in the second half of this year.
As always, thanks for your support.
Jill
