Hi everyone
I don’t know about where you live, but a chill is in the Pacific Northwest air now, the leaves are vibrant reds, oranges, and golds, the roofs are frosty in the mornings, and Editor Dog has declared it sweater weather! All I want to do is cuddle up under a blanket with a book and some warm apple cider.
Alas I have my own books to write and a small business to run.
Speaking of reading and Halloween, the e-book of Bad Company: Almost Like Magic, book 1 is ON SALE for only 99¢ starting today (October 26) and for the next week. Haven’t had a chance to read it? Now’s the time! It’s also available in paperback and through the Kindle Unlimited program. Wondering why I’m recommending now? Well, it takes place in the week leading up to Halloween, so it’s the perfect seasonal story.
I made this series of ads for Facebook (maybe you’ve seen one in the wild! Let me know!) and wanted to share them with you as well. A designer I’m not (sorry, mom), but I had fun creating them. And writing a clever pun for each.

Book and writing updates
Want a cozier, low-stakes book? My newest release—Soulless Mates—is a collection of six intertwined cozy fantasy stories that takes place on Halloween Eve. It’s available as an e-book and through Kindle Unlimited.
I’m participating in NaNoWriMo again this year (are you too? friend me!). For anyone unfamiliar, it’s when us writers try to write 50,000 words in 30 days, beginning November 1. I like to use that month to try writing a new genre or sub-genre, or a new-to-me style. I’m still doing my prep—and a lot of procrastination on Pinterest building a board for the project—and learning who my characters are and the basic plot.
The writing begins the morning of November 1. I don’t have the ability to stay up until midnight on Halloween like I used to do. But I’ve “won” in the past, and hope to get at least a good start on this new idea.
I’ll post updates through my other social media outlets. And speaking of social media, I’m fully done with Twitter/X… But I’m now on BlueSky and Threads—plus Instagram and my Facebook page—so find me in all those places for more casual updates, pictures of Editor Dog, and the usual bookish news.
In other news
We’re getting all ready for Halloween and trick or treating in our house. The neighborhood usually has a lot of kids out on Halloween night, and I’ll be dressed as my customary witch, sitting in the driveway with a raging fire pit, cackling at the kids and doling out treats. I hope you all have a safe Halloween (and a quiet one if that’s what you prefer).
I think that’s it for now! Happy reading, and I’ll catch you all next month. Hopefully with the news that I’ve completed my NaNoWriMo goal of 50,000 words!
